Go Green

This origami tea bag design by Natalia Ponomareva is spectacular and fresh. The tea bag is shaped as an origami crane that floats inside of your beverage. I didn’t find any websites or resources about this bag being mass-produced, but it is a lovely idea and project. I would love to have an origami crane or creation floating in my daily cup of tea. My favorite tea brands are Teavana and Stash, but then again I’ll just grab whichever green tea packet is nearest me.

On another note, green tea is fantastic for you, and here’s why:

1. Helps lower cholesterol
2. Burns more calories
3. Helps fight cancer and infections
4. Repairs immune system
5. Helps prevent tooth decay
6. Helps prevent diabetes
7. Helps you relax and de-stress

More fun facts: Green tea is minimally processed, and its leaves are withered and steamed, not fermented like Oolong tea and black teas. Green tea’s antioxidants (called catechins) help get rid of free radicals that might damage your DNA and contribute to cancer and blood clots (this wonder tea’s antioxidants improve the flexibility of blood vessels, which in turn make them less vulnerable to clogging).

Try this: If you don’t like hot drinks or the taste of green tea, try adding ice and lemonade to it to create a sweet flavor while still getting all of the amazing benefits. Starbucks has a great drink called Iced Green Tea Lemonade and it’s the perfect staple drink on a hot day. If you want to get in the mood for fall, Starbucks also has a Green Tea Latte (that can be made hot or cold) so you might want to give that a try, as well.
