That’s a Wrap!

The weekend we have all been waiting for has arrived. It is finally here! I think you know what I mean, and if not, let’s get you up to date. First of all, The Fault in Our Stars is out in theaters. I heavily sobbed when I read this book (who didn’t?), so I obviously want to see the movie. However, I don’t like the idea of crying with a bunch of strangers, so I’m debating waiting until the movie has been out for a while to go see it. Or just wait until it’s on iTunes/DVD. I don’t know yet, but I don’t want my TFIOS movie-going experience to be lessened by other people weeping and making sound effects. Secondly, Orange is the New Black is on Netflix finally. Again with the decisions, I’m still not sure if I will binge watch the entire season, or slowly set a one-per-day rule. And then, of course, the Tony Awards are on Sunday. Lots of things to enjoy! This is a good weekend for movies and shows. Maybe I’ll even make some of these cookies to eat as I watch. For now, let’s wrap up the week with a recap…

* Loving my new kitchen friend (above), but walking into my kitchen and thinking there was a tarantula on my wall has happened more than once. Yikes.

* I am honored and thrilled to have been interviewed by Flavorful World Blog. You can read my interview here.

* Today is National Doughnut Day! Go enjoy some fonuts.

* How Jon Hamm soothed a pregnant Amy Poehler. Hilarious.

* A great piece about John Green in The New Yorker.

* Interesting piece about the history of the disposable coffee cup.

* Classic and glamorous photos from Cannes.

* How fabulous does Cate Blanchett look the morning after winning her Best Actress Oscar?

* Love this San Francisco tiny fortune cookie factory.

* For cozy afternoons and evenings, make a super cheesy grilled cheese sandwich.

* These waffles on a Saturday morning. Yes, please.

Happy Birthday, Woody!

woody5

Yesterday, December 1, was Woody Allen’s birthday. He turned 78 years old. I’ve made it abundantly clear that I’m a huge Woody Allen fan. It all started halfway through college when I wrote about him for one of my film classes. I quickly became hooked on his writing, films, and humor, and I ended up writing a 50+ page paper about him, his life, and his films and writing. It was one of my favorite papers to write, and it never once felt like ‘work.’ He is a fascinating man and if you haven’t seen one of his movies, you’ve got a lot to choose from. Get started! I’m almost jealous if you haven’t seen any of his work because that just means you get to discover and watch his talent for the first time. With over 50 films, there are so many to enjoy. Having thoroughly enjoyed his recent films (Midnight in Paris and Blue Jasmine, in particular), I can’t wait to see his next film, Magic in the MoonlightHappy birthday, Woody!

I finally saw Blue Jasmine this week, and having seen every single one of his films, I can confidently say that this was one of Woody Allen’s best. The film takes place in San Francisco, first of all. Then there’s Cate Blanchett, who absolutely deserves to be nominated (at least!) for an Oscar for this role. If you’re going to the movie theater this long Labor Day weekend, that’s one movie I totally recommend. For now, let’s wrap-up the week with a recap…

* Hank and Marie watch the VMAs. So perfect.

* Scandal Season 3 promo…October 3 can’t get here soon enough.

* I am officially hooked on Orange is the New Black. If you haven’t yet seen, you know what you should be doing this weekend.

* Woody Allen’s films not only portray strong women, but these strong women have pretty fabulous outfits (hello…Inez in Midnight in Paris)! In Blue Jasmine, Cate Blanchett rocked some serious Chanel and Fendi.

* So glad Roger Federer is still in the U.S. Open – here’s hoping he makes it to the finals!

* Fun facts you might not have known about ’90’s rom-coms.

* Halloween candy is already on the shelves. Part of me feels like it is too soon, but the other part of me has already purchased 2 bags to devour [photo above].

* Fred Astaire dancing.

Have a happy Labor Day weekend!

I feel like I say this almost every week, but this week actually flew by. Maybe that is a good thing when you have a nice weekend to look forward to. Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine is finally in theaters and (obviously) I can’t wait to see it. This weekend I plan on brunching at a local farm-to-table restaurant, crossing off one of the movies on my Summer Movie List, and catching up on sleep. For now, let’s wrap up the week with a recap…

* Café Attitude.

* In anticipation for daily hot chocolate (like the one in the photo above) and heavy scarves, I am very ready (and already counting down) for fall.

* If only impromptu dance numbers were completely normal in everyday life.

* A Cast of Cooking Characters in Belgium.

* A cup of waves. Stunning photographs by Silvia Grav.

* Cate Blanchett’s 2 minute audition.

* Bridget’s back! So excited for Helen Fielding’s new book, to be released in October.

* These chai iced tea cubes look so refreshing.

* Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine is in theaters! Interesting article about Woody having regrets.

*  Finished reading Gone Girl. Ben Affleck will be starring as Nick Dunne in the film adaptation, and Rosamund Pike has been offered the role of Amy, though nothing is official yet. I think she would be great in that role.

* Best of Jason Sudeikis on SNL. So many talented SNL cast members are retiring. Next season will be very interesting.

Have a lovely weekend!

That’s a Wrap!

Happy 1st day of summer! How convenient that summer starts on a Friday. Perfect timing for picnicking in the park, a sunset BBQ, and a late night movie. Have you heard of cronuts? I have been hearing about cronuts nonstop, and I think this weekend might finally be the time to try them. But until then, let’s wrap up the week with a recap…

* Macklemore loves pho.

* Famous photos reimagined as ‘selfies’ – hilarious.

* Megan Hilty from Smash will grace the small screen once again.

* Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine trailer has finally arrived (above).

* Great summer party favor idea.

* The evolution of the croissant. Yum.

Enjoy your first weekend of summer!
