Recipe For: The Tony Awards

Recipe for Tony Awards Night

The Tony Awards are on Sunday, which means it’s time to get the snacks, champagne, and ballots ready! The Tony Awards are always highly entertaining to watch, and year after year I am blown away by the amazing talent onstage. Whether you’re putting together a full-blown party, a small get together, or watching solo, make a night of it and have fun!

That’s a Wrap!

It’s been 18 days since the New Year, and I’ve already watched Mad Men Season 5, Girls (half) Season One, and am currently making my way through Homeland. It’s better to get through all of these shows while still on holiday break, since I’ll soon be neck-deep in work, homework, and trying to maintain a social life of some sort. In the meantime, wrapping up the week with a recap…

* Not only is Jennifer Lawrence hosting SNL this weekend, but The Lumineers are the musical guest. Best combo ever.

* Halfway through Season One of Homeland. Claire Danes is slowly growing on me.

* Popcorn is always a great addition when watching intense shows (see above).

* Homemade jiaozi – didn’t take 3 hours this time!

* Pasta taken to a whole new level with sliced black truffles.

* These candle matches are adorable.

Have a great weekend! Are you doing anything fun?

That’s a Wrap!

The weeks just seem to be getting shorter and shorter. I never want the holidays to end! We’re hardly in the midst of it and I’m already starting to miss it…I’m looking forward to finishing up my work so I can watch endless movies and eat my body weight in Christmas cookies. But for now, here’s a wrap-up from the week…

Lincoln lived up to the hype. So did this large popcorn.

And the Oscar Goes To…

The Academy Awards are this Sunday, and I wish I had a television in my room so that I could stock up on snacks and enjoy the show. However, since that isn’t the case I will have to hunt down a nearby TV. I always enjoy Oscar season and the days leading up to the big night. The competition is fierce, and it couldn’t be more thrilling! To make the awards show more enjoyable, an Oscars party would be a fun event to throw for your friends, family, or yourself. Because the awards show can last for several hours, make enough snacks to last through the night. Who will you be rooting for this Sunday?

◊ Cookies in the shape of Oscars

◊ Popcorn cones with the Best Picture nominees

◊ Keep gold champagne glasses nearby to celebrate when your favorite movie wins!

◊ Have gold and sparkly table settings so your guests feel like stars

◊ Fill your champagne glasses with an orange and gold drink – this recipe looks like a winner

Friday Features

I went to see New Year’s Eve this week and saw a trailer for The Lucky One. Of course, Nicholas Sparks really knows how to tell a story and make anyone with a heart feel some kind of emotion (trailer below). I am also obsessed with that hamburger wrapping paper. So clever and creative. What did you watch and crave this week? Have a wonderful Christmas and a great weekend!

♥ Flavor your own popcorn for movie night!

Friday’s Features

I can’t believe Christmas is only a week away! Honestly the season is going by too fast, but I must admit I am making the most of my time. My schedule includes lots of reading, a bit of work, baking, cooking, and of course, watching movies. Young Adult comes out this weekend so I’ll be seeing that. On a side note, a few things I’ve been watching and craving from this week! What are you up to this weekend?

♥ This would be a fun addition to a Christmas party

♥ Right?

♥ This is one serious movie collection

Friday’s Features

The Vow trailer. I know this movie doesn’t come out until February, but I saw it in the previews in theaters and couldn’t get over it.

We are already half-way through fall. I haven’t had the chance to bust out any scarves, coats, or boots, but the absence of cold weather hasn’t stopped me from cozying up and watching my shows and movies. This weekend includes a trip to the beach, great food, great people, and a lot of reminiscing. Have a really great weekend! For the time being, these are the things I have been watching + craving.

♥ Bubble gum cigars. I remember eating these as a kid. They are so much more fun than regular stick gum. You can order them here.

♥ The minimalist’s way to celebrate a birthday. Chocolate cake truffles.

♥ Audrey Hepburn’s test screen shots for Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961)

♥ Plastic popcorn bucket. I used this in my A Dash of Cinema picture (seen on my homepage). You can get them here. In addition to popcorn, this bucket is great for holding magazines and flowers.

Let’s Go to the Carnival!

Being within an hour’s commute to the Santa Monica Pier makes it a constant struggle not to hop on the nearest Metrolink so I can ride the ferris wheel all day long and stuff my face with popcorn. To me, carnivals have always had a whimsical allure, whether it is because they are a magical place for a first date, a fun bonding experience with your sister, or just to stand in the center of it all soaking up the colorful lights and sounds like a sponge. Carnivals are an enormous playground for children and adults alike. They are also a goldmine for junk food and sweets, and sometimes you just have to indulge in ice cream, cotton candy, and a hot dog, in that order and all at one time!
